Russian Hill / North Beach

Russian Hill / North Beach

Russian Hill is a residential neighborhood that balances a community feel while also openly welcoming visitors and tourists, perhaps better than any other neighborhood in San Francisco. Russian Hill contains a mix of beautiful, well-maintained homes and small apartment buildings. There are pockets of charming restaurants and boutique shops found along its tree lined streets. The most notable attractions are its many landmarks, Lombard Street (“the world’s crookedest street”), two of the three remaining cable car lines, and Ghirardelli Square.

On the western edge of Russian Hill and just north of downtown lies North Beach. Historically, it is known as San Francisco’s Little Italy and continues to emphasize this heritage through Italian centric restaurants, cafes, delicatessens, and specialty stores. Home to young professionals and families living in a mix of single family homes, condominiums, duplexes, and apartments, this area is a favorite among locals just as much as it is visitors who enjoy relaxing on a warm day in Washington Square or indulging in its vibrant nightlife scene.
